Inspiration may strike at any time, it’s true, but when it comes to music, even a short survey of the artists who have found their muse in Asheville’s streets and scenic vistas would make a for a pretty intimidating playlist. One that includes George Gershwin, Bela Bartok, Nina Simone, Roberta Flack and Robert Moog.  One that starts with Cherokee rhythms and Scotch-Irish airs and ends with such a wealth and diversity of artists playing just about every known (and a few largely unknown) genres of music. Put on your dancing shoes, pick up your opera glasses and get ready to explore.
